Centre Soccer Association Welcomes Todd Roth as Interim Director of Coaching

Centre Soccer Association (CSA) named Todd Roth as our Interim Director of Coaching effective immediately. This role will support CSA’s Technical Director, Lisa Cole, while she is coaching the Women’s U20 World Cup Team for Papua New Guinea through December 2016. Lisa Cole is CSA’s Technical Director through 2018.

For me this is an important hire as this person has to have the same values that have become a part of what CSA is about said Cole. “They have to put teaching before winning, players before everything else and they have to be as excited to coach every level of player. They need to see the bigger picture that we are developing people not just players. Hiring a Director of coaching has always been a part of our 5 year
plan. I am really excited about what’s next for the club. We took time to get the developmental program right and have more kids playing and learning the game. Our retention rate at older ages groups is up significantly and kids are continuing to stay in the game because CSA is offering opportunities at age appropriate times and the players are developing developed the skills required to enjoy the the game.

According to Todd, “Growing up in State College, I've seen how the soccer community has evolved over the past 25 years. I was a player on some of the original CSA travel teams in the early days. While we've undergone so many positive and challenging changes in our region, the area I continue to see as the greatest need for our sport is passionate, dedicated, and effective coaches. As a teacher, coach, and educator, my approach to developing kids through sports involves developing what could be their greatest inspiration and motivator...coaches as educators. My goal is to recruit and work with effective coaches within CSA and the greater State College community.”

Todd has most recently been coaching the ‘01-02 girls for CSA, and also coached in the Mountain District ODP program since 2014.  He also coaches the Park Forest Middle School team for the State College School District and played for Centre Soccer Association as a youth.

Todd is planning to take the NSCAA National Diploma with the year, and holds a USSF E License, NSCAA Level 6 Diploma, and NSCAA Diplomas in Defending Principles, Role of GK and Back 4 in Attacking, Developing Strikers, and in Goalkeeping Level 1. Todd has also been certified by the National Federation of High Schools as a Level 2 Certified Interscholastic Coach.
